First Grade Highlights
November 15, 2017

Our first field trip to the Old Town Oakland Farmer’s Market was a blast, even in the rain!!! The students learned that a tomato is a fruit and many vendors wake up at 2:00am and traveled 2-3 hours to get to the market. Most of the students had never seen a Pomelo, Bitter Melon, and a Goyokumba before.  A huge THANKS to all of our parent chaperones for helping make this field trip a success.

Announcements & Reminders:
  1. Friday we will be walking to Aquatic Park playground at 12:45.   Fingers crossed we won’t get rained out.
  2. Generations Day is next Wednesday, November 22nd.  The school day ends at lunchtime.
School will be closed Thursday and Friday (November 23rd & 24th)

Our 4th-grade buddies came by the class and made Venn diagrams to help us compare and contrast our favorite animals, hobbies, interests etc.!

Art class

In art class we have begun our explorations with clay! On Denali, while learning how to make pinch pot bowls, we made small diyas inspired candle holders.

First Grade Music

The First Graders enjoyed writing their own verse to the Hum a Happy Do Re Mi song, which they shared at the MCG a couple of weeks ago! Along with getting ready for our upcoming Generations Day program on the 22nd, we have been experimenting with a variety of slot drums in class. Big fun!
